A Course in Miracles, also known as A Course In Miracles, is a popular self-help workbook that provides a plethora of techniques and strategies for personal development. Author Helen Schucman claims that this book was dictated to her by an angelic messenger, word for word. According to tradition, the Course In Miracles was first printed in eight languages including Spanish, French, German, English, Hindi, Korean, and Chinese. Now, it has been translated into twenty languages.
The course teaches readers to apply certain methods to improve their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, health, prosperity, and spirituality. It includes three books: The Power Of Positive Thinking, Think and Grow Rich, and How To Be Truly Great. As these are considered to be metaphysical works, critics deride the material as "mythology." Helen Schucman claims that those critics are only partially correct. While she acknowledges the existence of magic and the powers that lie behind it, she maintains that positive thinking, through a properly implemented thought system, can have vastly more beneficial results than does magic. The workbook teaches students how to apply Schucman's thought system to achieve goals and consequently create the impossible.
Unlike many other works in this series, A Course in Miracles does not attempt to re-invent the wheel by re-inventing philosophy or religion. Rather, the workbook presents a series of "short" lessons based on real life situations that show how "short" lessons can have a profound effect on a person's life. These "short" lessons, which are accompanied by supportive images and text, provide a powerful illustration of the concepts and lessons taught in the entire book. It also provides some insightful advice on forgiveness, as well as a review of the "Book of the Gateless."
Along with several short "lectures," this workbook provides several worksheets and quizzes to assist students in applying the teachings of the course. Most of the worksheets and quizzes focus on the concept of forgiveness. In the worksheet for the first lesson, students are asked to list a series of people that they have "forgiven," in order of importance. The worksheet then asks them to look at each person's relationship with God, as well as other people. Students are then given a brief description of their list and are then asked to explain their reasons for choosing each person as a forgiver.
A Course in Miracles for beginners guide also contains an optional worksheet for a "mini-class," which serves as an explanation of some of the topics covered in the main worksheets. This worksheet is designed to allow students to reflect on some of the lessons from the main worksheets and quizzes. By using these worksheets and quizzes, students are able to practice and develop their skills without having to spend a large amount of time on the actual assignments. However, students' progress will be measured only by their own progress, and not by the progress of other students. Thus, it is up to each individual to ensure that they are progressing in their chosen area, whether it is gaining knowledge, gaining experience, or developing their spiritual abilities.
Overall, this is a worthwhile workbook for those who want to understand the teachings of A Course in Miracles. Although the methods discussed in the workbook may seem a bit unorthodox, they are based on centuries of accumulated wisdom. That wisdom, however, should not be ignored, as repeating these teachings can have a powerful effect on your life and the lives of others. That is why a good workbook such as A course in miracles is recommended for anyone who wants to study the laws of miracles and apply them in their own lives. Overall, this is a great 20 minute book which can serve as a great resource for those who are looking to understand the laws of miracles and their application in their lives.
